Description / Summary: Article on joining Teams meetings as a guest if you do not have access to your CNC Account, or want to show a different name
|
|
Summary: This article should be used to join Teams meetings as a guest. This may need to be done if you are attending a meeting where you do not want to show the full name that is associated with your CNC Account, or you do not have access to your CNC Account.
Create and Use a Meeting Link: Meeting links are created by the host of the meeting, and are often shared directly with your account when you are invited. In this case, you will want to request a manual meeting link from the host of the meeting. This can be done with the instructions below!
1. Create a Meeting:
2. Open the meeting in your Calendar, and find the blue "Join the meeting now" button
3. Right-click the blue button and select "Copy Hyperlink" - you can then send the meeting invite manually!
Joining with a Meeting Link: Now that you have the meeting link, you will want to paste the link in your preferred browser. In this example, I am using Google Chrome. After pasting the link in your browser and navigating to the link, follow the below instructions to join the meeting!
NOTE: If you are wanting to join as a Guest, please make sure that you are using an incognito tab (see this article for creating an incognito tab in your preferred browser) or logout of Teams prior to clicking the link.
1. Selecting "Open Microsoft Teams" will open the app version on your computer, and will often use the account associated with the application. If you are not wanting to use an account, logout before selecting this button. Otherwise, select "Cancel" to use the browser version.
2. If you have opened the meeting in the app version, you should be able to sign in and join the meeting, or see this page if you have signed out:
3. If you have selected "Continue on this browser," you should see this page:
4. Allow your preferred browser to access your Camera and Microphone if you would like, or select "Never allow" which will prompt this message:
This means that you can join the meeting, but cannot interact with the host or other attendees through visual or auditory means.
5. Otherwise, you should now see the following screen where you can enter your name and join the meeting!
NOTE: The host of the meeting may have to admit you if you are joining outside of the Organization, or as a guest. Be sure to reach out to the meeting host, so they can let you in!
