Problem: Can't run Macros or trying to remove the Protected View warning

 

Description / Summary: A visual guide to adding network location as a trusted location using trust center settings

 

If you have been encountering issues using macros in Excel or seeing the following warning on your office suite, these instructions are for you.

Here are the steps to resolve this issue:

  1. Click on the "File" ribbon and click on the "Options" button in the navigation pane.
  2. In the Excel options window, click on "Trust Center" in the navigation pane.
  3. In the Trust Center window, choose "Trusted Locations" in the navigation pane, then click on the check box "Allow Trusted Locations on my network (not reconmmended)". Then click "Add new location..."
  4. Choose "Browse...", Then in the browse menu, Choose "Global Share (R:)" then clcik "OK".
    Finally, back to the Microsoft Office Trusted Location window and enable the checkmark "Subfolders of this location are also trusted", then click OK.
    Repeat this process by clicking "Add new location" on step 3 to add other locations such as the S: drive.
  5. Click "OK" in the Trust Center window. Restart Excel should apply the changes.
