What is this?
All CNC students and members of staff are provided with an college email account. These articles and forms will give you more information about your email account, as well as allow you to request the creation of a shared mailbox, and learn about how to manage distribution groups, so that you may communicate with many people at the click of a mouse.
What information do I need for this?
- You will need an active CNC login in order to view the information
- Your CNC email account
- MFA enabled on your account. To learn more about MFA, please visit our Knowledge Base
- Please familiarise yourself with Policy AD-IT-6.02: Acceptable Use of CNC's Information Technology Policy - Email Management, which can be found here.
Distribution Groups
IT can create distribution groups, "DGs" for short, that allow you to communicate with many recipients at once. If you would like to request the creation of a distribution group, please click "Request a New DG".
If you are the owner of a DG, you can add recipients and manage your group without needing to ask IT to do it for you as long as your group doesn't contain students and you can find all of the people in the Global Address List (GAL.) Please see the related articles for more information.
To communicate with groups of students, IT recommends the use of Teams or Moodle.
Shared Mailboxes & Calendars
IT can create a shared email address, or mailbox, for your department or group. These allow multiple users to read and send email messages and can be used to provide a shared calendar for easy scheduling. Managers may use the forms on the right to request the creation of a new shared mailbox, or to request access to, or revoke access from a shared mailbox. These requests cannot be granted without manager approval.
Who can use this?
- Email: Current CNC students, members of staff, and faculty
- Shared mailboxes: CNC Managers, Deans, and their designates
- Distribution Groups: CNC members of staff and faculty
